THE DNA TEST, PRE & POST-ELECTION JOURNALIST FORUM WITH Kaskisa Yilyok (Broadcast Journalist)

 

   The media (print, electronic and social media), are tools used in resent times to create agenda positively or negatively. They all  have a perception on anything as long as the media sets up to project it, here looking at the issue of voter apathy during elections, the lack of faith in institutions and so on and how they can be corrected or promoted through the media as the media has a big part to play in influencing the general public.


 
 The DNA TEST “PRE & POST ELECTION JOURNALIST” FORUM convened by Kaskida Yilyok, a Broadcast Journalist from TinCity 104.3FM Radio Jos.
The chat forum session which held today, Friday February 8th 2019, from 12:00pm, at the 18th street lounge, Akila Machunga Street, off national library Jos.

was a session aimed at creating an agenda, this time around for media actors such as news producers, bloggers, program anchors, reporters, media practitioners and stakeholders. a platform provided for media and relevant institutions to discuss expectations on the 2019 general elections, such as sensitive reporting and also to create a network of information gathering, verification and dissemination for a better and well informed public, In order to ease decisions making and actions of the general public in exercising their civic rights and encouraging a positive and effective citizen’s participation in the democratic process, as a balance and informed pre-election reportage can guarantee a safer post-election response.
The forum also discussed the journalist of today, how to report better this elections of 2019 as the media has the power to make or mare.

The General elections which will be held in Nigeria on 16 February 2019, is one that has all attention this time, and the media cant be left out.  
as there is a strong call to and against fake news and hate speeches.

 In participation at the forum were the Director of SSS, Shehu M. Waziri, ably represented, the INEC Resident electoral commissioner, Hallilu Pai, who also sent in a representative,  the Police commissioner, the Zonal Director of the National Broadcasting commission, NBC and the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, NUJ, on the Plateau, who all had 15 minutes to set an gender, Media actors for a better, effective and safe reporting and discussions across media platforms before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The vote not fight campaign also made an appearance with a representative, Mattewtegha's Blog, KT-FM, Jay-FM, Unity-FM, were all present to make contributions, to help conduct a conflict and hitch free election. 

 In the building were representatives from different media houses, who also contributed massively to the forum.
